Like fallen leaves
sharp edges of your dreams
frost white

Have you forgotten

Is it over
or just
beginning

Remember

This lamp-lit night
by owl-light
I kiss your sleeping eyes

Remember me,
Remember me
Remember

Slipping out
on your bicycle
the night air
catching you

The wind

Wingbeats and shadow
The sky's dark heartbeat
Or is it yours

The wind

Birdsong welcomes you
frost and shadow
melt away

Remember

your own story
the wind remembers
if you fall
the sky will catch you

Remember

Can you hear

the trees beckon

The wind
the wind -
Mundane concerns
Can't contain

your wandering spirit

Remember

Don't look back
Your hat is lost
Ahead

Only wind and flowers

Devin Fan's inspiration for Wind and Flowers

"My life as a poet has been the struggle to capture things just out of reach — to put into clumsy words things revealed to me too awesome to describe but too revelatory to keep a secret. This poem was written for my wife, Sarah."
