The protagonist in award-winning author Nino Ricci's latest novel suffers from a menacing sleeping disorder — an affliction that Ricci himself knows all too well.

The feeling I would get as sleep came on felt like what I thought the moment of death might be like.- Nino Ricci

In this video, Ricci recounts his nightmarish experience of being diagnosed with a sleeping disorder, and how he was able to extract inspiration from this personal struggle for his fiction novel, Sleep.

If you're in Toronto, you can catch Ricci at World Literacy Canada's Kama Benefit Reading Series 2016 on January 27th at the Gardiner Museum.
