Watch the trailer for Crash Gallery, CBC's new high-energy art challenge series
It's loud, it's messy, it's chaotic, it's… Crash Gallery. Premiering Friday, October 2 at 8:30 p.m.
Crash Gallery is an art challenge series showcasing 15 artists from across Canada. From painters to illustrators, graffiti artists to puppet makers, Crash Gallery features a diverse group of artists from all backgrounds and specialties with one thing in common — an unparalleled passion for art.
Host Sean O'Neill of the Art Gallery of Ontario guides the series. In each episode, three artists create works outside their comfort zone and under pressure. Not only do they face a ticking clock — there's also a room full of art enthusiasts watching closely and getting in on the action. Each episode, there are two challenges, with the audience voting for their favourite artist at the end of each round, and ultimately choosing that episode's Crash Gallery champion (the prize: bragging rights).
Each challenge is bold and like nothing you've seen before: think paint grenades, mosaics made from smashed plates and creating a work of art while suspended from the ceiling.
Each episode of Crash Gallery pushes the artists out of their comfort zones and to their creative limits; each challenge connects the audience with the artist in unique and intimate ways; each artist shows us art created in ways that we've never seen before. It's loud, it's messy, it's chaotic, it's… Crash Gallery.
Tune into CBC TV at 8:30 p.m. on Friday, October 2 to catch the premiere of Crash Gallery!
