Did You know?

• Ben Mulroney would later earn degrees in law and history before breaking into show business as an adult in 2000. He appeared at a convention of the federal Progressive Conservatives in 2000 to represent his father, former prime minister Brian Mulroney, who was unwell. Ben's ease before the cameras and effortless conversation in both official languages led to a job offer from CTV.

• Mulroney's great enthusiasm for pop culture, from movies to TV to comics, made him a natural fit as an entertainment reporter. He is a host on CTV's daily entertainment program and hosted the talent search program Canadian Idol.

• Upon meeting Mulroney in 2002, the American documentary maker Michael Moore noted his last name and said he hoped he wasn't related to that "terrible" former PM. Mulroney, whose CTV biography says his inspiration is "anyone with the last name Mulroney," responded, "Yes, he's my dad." When Moore apologized, Mulroney assured him it had happened before, saying, "I get that sometimes."

• Mulroney married stylist Jessica Brownstein in Montreal on Oct. 30, 2008. The pair became parents to twin boys in August 2010.
