The Story

Dinner's over, and you're ready to pay. You're trying to catch the server's eye, but what do you ask for? There's no shortage of possibilities. Did You know?

• A Florida man was charged with burglary and theft in 2003 after robbing a bank when he realized he couldn't pay his restaurant bill (check?). He walked to a nearby bank and threw a garbage can through the window. The restaurant manager called the police, who found the man rummaging through cash drawers.

• According to a 2007 article in Forbes magazine, North America's priciest restaurant is New York's Masa, where the prix fixe menu starts at $300 US per person.
