Trivia game Shaman teaches Indigenous history and culture

The Story

Growing up in The Pas, Manitoba, Steve Perano played the same board games most families did. But as an adult he wanted to make something that would be more relevant to kids who shared his Indigenous background. After finding a group of investors and assembling a team to come up with 2,000 trivia questions, Perano's game, Shaman, is finally hitting store shelves in time for Christmas 1985. CBC reporter Jim Compton goes to a classroom where kids are playing Shaman and explains why it's not yet getting the support of the province's Native education branch.
