Tremblay: writing from inside the womb

The Story

It is 1981 and the host of Morningside, Don Harron, sits down with writer Michel Tremblay to talk about his latest book, The Fat Woman Next Door is Pregnant. Harron's copy is coffee-stained and dog-eared, much loved by him because of the kindness he has found in its pages. Tremblay admits that the novel is full of tenderness. In the course of the interview, Tremblay says, "I do prefer to imagine how things are, or should be, or should have been, or were, than just writing a reportage about what real life is all about, because I always say that real life is very boring."
