The Story

Rockabilly musician Ronnie Hawkins chats with CBC Summer Festival host Riki Turofsky.  They talk about why and when he moved to Canada  --  “ah yes, Canada’s been good to me”.   He describes his early time here, talks about his family and current music.  They also discuss his recent time touring Europe, landing a role in the film Heaven’s Gate, and what he's doing now.

• Ronnie Hawkins was born Jan. 10, 1935 in Huntsville, Arkansas.  He came to Canada with his group The Hawks, including Levon Helm.  The group later evolved into The Band.
