Margaret Atwood remembers the early days of the Toronto poetry scene

The Story

Margaret Atwood is Sylvia Tyson's guest on CBC Radio's Touch the Earth.  The two recollect that they met around 1960, at the Bohemian Embassy, on Thursday nights when Atwood read poetry, and Sylvia Tyson performed music.   Atwood recalls that there was a publication that came out of that group, called The Sheet, which was printed, assembled by hand, and sold for 50 cents.  They talk about the country house she lives in, writing poetry and song lyrics, and differing poetry reading styles.  She reads four poems: Threes, Dust, All Bread, and You Begin.
