Neil Diamond on CBC-TV in 1968

The Story

There are millions of bright, energetic, idealistic kids aged 18 to 21 in America. Musician Neil Diamond has seen them up close, and he says the problem is that no one is taking them seriously. In 1968, he's just coming into his own as a performer after years of writing songs for others. In this 1968 interview with Barbara Amiel for CBC-TV's The Day It Is, Diamond says he's still trying to figure out his responsibility as a singer -- to himself, to people his age, and to his country.
