The Story

Tommy Banks, in Vancouver as the musical director of the upcoming ACTRA Awards program, joins singer and sometime-talk-show-host Juliette on the Bob McLean Show.  They discuss his career, which includes writing for musicals and producing variety specials in Edmonton.  He talks about the Alberta Foundation for the Performing Arts, and his love of variety in his work – "I like to do as many things as I possibly can and I’ve been very lucky in being able to."

• Thomas Banks was born Dec. 17, 1936, in Calgary, Alberta.  He died Jan. 25, 2018, in Edmonton, Alberta, aged 81.

• Banks was appointed to the Senate in 2000, and served there until 2011.
