Marian Engel on writing Bear

The Story


Marian Engel is today's guest on CBC Television's Authors.  She talks to host Joyce Davidson about writing her novel Bear, about how she came to this "fundamental mythic idea" and made one of the main characters of her novel a wild bear.  They discuss how she described the smell of the bear, what he symbolizes, and what we can learn from writing.
