It's February 2000, and there's been a nasty battle going on for the U.S. Republican presidential nomination. Will it be George Bush or John McCain? In this episode of Mansbridge One on One, Peter Mansbridge talks to Peter Jennings - a well-respected news anchor on the U.S. network ABC - about the current goings-on in American politics. Also in this interview, Jennings comments on the state of the news business today, and discusses his Canadian roots. "I feel the depth of my roots, always have," he says.

Did You know?


• Born in Toronto in 1938, Peter Jennings started his broadcasting career early. When he was only nine years old, he hosted a CBC Radio program called Peter's People.

• Jennings went to the U.S. to work for ABC in 1965.
