Leonard Cohen at 50

The Story

Leonard Cohen's career plateaus in the 1970s and 1980s. Still popular in Europe, his music and poetry fails to capture a similar audience in North America. But he continues to produce records and publish books of songs and poetry. Months before the enfant terrible turns 50, he speaks to CBC Radio Morningside host Peter Gzowski who just happens to be turning 50 as well. The interview takes place just after Cohen's Book of Mercy is published in 1984.
