Anne Murray on Front Page Challenge in 1971

The Story

Thanks to the enthusiasm of the studio audience, Anne Murray is a mystery guest for only a few seconds for the Front Page Challenge panel.  Making quick work of guessing her identity, they interview the young rising star who is the first Canadian to be awarded a gold record in the U.S.  They talk about ambition, her remarkable poise during her appearances on U.S. network programs, and her reputation for performing barefoot.  Panelist Gordon Sinclair asks her to give her take on a recent Toronto Star article in which she was quoted unfavourably comparing Hollywood and Toronto, and what she wants to achieve - "I want to build a house in Indian Harbour, that's all".
