Sadaf Foroughi's debut feature Ava is the most nominated film at this year's Canadian Screen Awards. Tom Power speaks with the Montreal-based director about why she wanted to tell this story of teenage rebellion in Iran and the issues she faced making this film in her home country.

The Canadian Screen Awards gala will be broadcast live on CBC-TV on March 11.
