Baba Alex: Quebec master of Indian classical

Baba Alex.jpgAlexandre Brunelle-Garon, better known as Baba Alex, provides the live music for the remounting of the play Bhopal by Teesri Duniya Theatre that's on at the Segal Centre.  But Baba Alex isn't typical of most of Indian classical music performers.

Born and raised in Quebec City, Alexandre Brunelle-Garon lived in India for more than a decade, studying with the masters of Indian classical music and mastering his language skills in more than one Indian language.  Baba Alex plays a variety of South Asian wind, string and percussion instruments and has recorded two albums of Indian Classical music. He spoke with host Sonali Karnick and played the bamboo flute, the "Bansuri" in studio.
