Hemmingford Archives: "Bring the hose, boys!"

While Sonali Karnick was visiting apple orchards in the Hemmingford area, she came across one of those great organisations that are the keepers of our local history.

The Hemmingford Archives has a small office located inside the elementary school. The shelves are stacked with boxes and the walls are covered with old photographs, maps and family trees. Documents in the archives go as a far back as the late 1700's when the first settlers arrived in what is now Hemmingford.

They've got everything from photos and birth certificates to buttons from military uniforms. Sonali Karnick met up with the president of the archives, Mary Ducharme and the archives secretary Myrna Paquette in the converted classroom.
