Shelagh Plunkett: "The Water Here Is Never Blue"

It was a family joke that her father was a spy but it may not be such a far-fetched idea.
Author Shelagh Plunkett digs deep into her family's past and her father's trips to world hot spots in her memoirs, The Water Here is Never Blue.

In the book, her father's supposed job as a civil engineer took the family from Guyana - in what is called the True Dark - and to Timor, Indonesia, at a time of intense conflict. It's a coming of age story for the award-winning author who now calls Montreal home.
