All ads are not alike. Not when you consider the ad 'categories' they come from. This week, Terry O'Reilly tours major ad categories- from automotive to confections, from fast food to banking: each with its own personality, rules and language. He'll show how vastly different the tourism category is from, say, no-for-profit or sports marketing. He'll show how ad categories can be big, small, fascinating, and, in at least one case, downright mysterious.

I have listened to many many of your shows. I recommend your podcasts to many of my friends. you are quite brilliant.

I have a small request. On your show season 4: "catagories" you played a clip of "Finnegin Beer" prayer to St Pat. Now I may have the name and refenece wrong but that is understandable since I was laughing so hard I needed to pullover to regain control of my car and missed the credit. If its not too much trouble could you post where this prayer to the gods of beer may be found.

Again, the show is wonderful; keep it up.

I really liked "the Ode to Bruce", Irish (bashing) beer ad. Does anyone have the proper title, so I can google it & find a copy?

Dear AOP,

As a madly committed fan of AOP...

I was curious if you had a mailing list that could alert listeners of upcoming shows, interesting FAQ and alerts of AOP's recent on-line steaming. Ex Season 4: "Categories"

Is AOP twitter?

Thanks for always offering material that the whole family can enjoy and learn from together. I needn't mention how useful a podcast would be, but how about offering all your material to listen on-line. I noticed that only the seasons 3 and 4 are on your page. Any chance O'reilly On Advertising could also be listed on your page? I'll never forget the feeling I had listening to that ad from Australia and the radio silence during (I think) a funeral home ad.

Thanks again, even our 7 and 9 year olds know the opening tune to your show.

My dear Mr. O Reilly I find your advertising comments, if not totally accurate funny, thanks for the laughs. But I have to disagree with you re David Ogilvy , my ex-husband was the copywriter for O.B.M. He said, in my dining room "I admire the man who leaves the office at 5.pm but I promote the man who works all night and day" - this happened often
