2 Canadians held on drug charges in Michigan

U.S. federal agents say a shipment of marijuana and ecstasy worth at least $1 million US was flown to a small Michigan airport from Canada.

Matthew Moody, 32, and Jesse Rusenstrom, 20, were arrested Friday night after allegedly driving a Toyota SUV onto a runway at Sandusky City Airport to pick up suitcases full of drugs.

The airport is in Sandusky, Mich., about 140 kilometres north of Detroit.

The two men appeared in U.S. District Court in Detroit Monday on charges of possession with intent to distribute marijuana and ecstasy.

They are being held without bond until their Nov. 18 preliminary examination.

The bust was made after a customs and border patrol agent flying a Blackhawk helicopter followed the aircraft.
