Finding the Fit:  University and college students have left their classrooms and jumped headfirst into their summer job. At least the lucky ones have. It has been a tough market over the last couple of years. Student unemployment has been at record levels. And there's one group of students that faces an even harder time than most. These are students who, at some point in their life, have been diagnosed with autism. Many of them have trouble with social interaction. Job interviews are problematic. And fitting into the culture of a workplace can be difficult.

But as freelance contributor Kim Pittaway discovered,  many of them have skills that can be extremely valuable in particular companies. We aired her documentary, Finding the Fit.

When the Work Goes:
For the town of Welland, Ontario the auto industry was a perfect fit. The Welland Canal lead to the Great Lakes which lead to the US Market. That encouraged a sprawling industry and created thousands of jobs in communities that just kept growing. And then, the auto industry crashed.

Over the last decade, more than 5,000 people have lost their jobs. That's 10-percent of the population. The Current went to Welland, Ontario to find out what happens when the work goes.
