Shelagh Rogers celebrates the winners of this year's CBC Literary Awards

This week, CBC continues its long-term commitment to Canadian writing, including the work of both emerging and established authors.

The winners of the CBC Literary Awards were recently announced, and Shelagh Rogers was at the party in Montreal where the prizes were given out. Join in the excitement on The Next Chapter. (link to podcast)

These prizes are the country's most generous for unpublished writing, with $60,000 given to the English- and French-language authors, courtesy of the Canada Council for the Arts. You can also listen to readings of the English-language winners on the Between the Covers podcast.

At the other end of the spectrum, Canada Reads celebrates published writing. Each year, the winner of this annual title fight becomes a national bestseller. The debates wrap up today, with the announcement of the winning novel. Check it all out online: look for videos, fun and frank confessionals featuring all the panelists.

Spoiler alert: the announcement will be made on the Canada Reads website at noon ET, so if you want to hear the debates play out on air first, just head online afterwards to find out more about how things played out. Vote in the People's Choice poll, and try for your chance to win one of 10 copies of the winning book.

And be sure to check out the new CBC Book Club, hosted by writer/broadcaster Hannah Sung. For the next month, we'll be celebrating the book selected by the Canada Reads panelists, with everything from live chats and original videos featuring the author to Ask the Author contests and photo galleries. It's all out in the open at noon ET at the official website.

The first live chat is on Tuesday, March 10, at noon ET.
