Two of David Grossman’s novels, The Book of Intimate Grammar (Picador) and See Under: Love (Picador) were named among the 10 most important books in Israeli history. Now, the acclaimed author and peace activist has two new books that explore his homeland’s psyche.
One is a collection of essays, Writing in the Dark (Douglas & McIntyre), and the other is a new novel. The latter is not yet available in English but it’s been preoccupying him for the last five years. During that time, Grossman’s younger son, Uri, was killed in the 2006 Israel-Lebanon conflict.

First aired November 23, 2008 on Writers & Company. [runs 52:46]
