Pastor well-known in Eyou Istchee dies in road accident

An Ontario pastor well-known in Eyou Istchee has died following a car crash on a New York state highway. Ross Maracle of Desronto, Ontario died late Tuesday night. August 21. The 66 year-old was in the passenger seat of a truck when the driver loss control driving northbound on Interstate 81, in the town of Pamelia. The truck hit a guardrail and flipped over, ejecting Maracle. He was flown by air ambulance to a hospital in Syracuse - about 110 kilometres away - where he died from his injuries. Residents from the Cree communities of Waskaganish, Mistissini and Nemaska knew Maracle from the early 1980's. Simeon Trapper is from Waskaganish, he is one of them who knew him very well. Joshua Loon spoke with Simeon Trapper.

Ungava candidates on issues affecting Cree Nation

A lot of people are still trying to figure out who to vote for and why in the upcoming Quebec provincial election. In Ungava, we have five candidates to choose from.
