CSB reforming Cree Language of Instruction Program
The Cree School Board is looking at ways to standardize how the Cree language is taught in schools across Eyou Istchee. The Cree Language of Instruction Program was introduced formally in 1994 in Eyou Istchee. The school board is currently looking at 3 different models to teach the Cree language. Joshua Loon spoke to Abraham Jolly, Director General of the Cree School Board to find out more.
Joshua Loon also spoke with Christina Kitty, who is part of the parents committee at James Bay Eeyou school in Chisasibi. She says many parents in her community want more Cree language instruction, not less.
