MP Saganash becomes Natural Resources critic

saganashNDP.JPGCree MP Romeo Saganash has been assigned an important role in the New Democratic Party's "shadow cabinet". Saganash was sworn in as Member of Parliament for Abitibi-Baie James-Nunavik-Eeyou during a ceremony in the House of Commons on May 26th. With this comes new responsibilities for Saganash as the opposition's Natural Resources critic. Melissa Natachequan spoke with him about his new role.

Elder shares traditional medicine techniques

They know which ones we need to help with different ailments including widespread problems related to diabetes. They also know how to prepare all these plants for our use. Mistissini Elder Minnie Awashish sat down with Melissa Natachequan to show her some of the techniques.

Nine young Rangers head to Peru

rangers2.JPGImagine coming from Northern Quebec, where it's still cold, and going to a very hot climate below the equator. Nine Aboriginal and Inuit youth of the Canadian Rangers from Northern Quebec are getting a chance to travel to Peru. One Cree from Eeyou Istchee was chosen to go and it is Andy Atsynia of Wemindji. Vincent Georgekish went to cover their press conference just before they left Montreal. He spoke with Andy Atsynia as well as the team leader, explorer Bernard Voyer.
