Crees open new Quebec Embassy
The official grand opening of a new embassy for the Crees of Eeyou Istchee took place on December 3rd in Quebec City. It was also a celebration of the 35th anniversary of the founding of the Grand Council of the Crees, following the signing of the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement in 1975. Quebec Premier Jean Charest, Parti Quebecois leader Pauline Marois, as well as Inuit and Innu leaders were present at the opening. Vincent Georgekish was there and he spoke to Grand Chief Matthew Coon Come about the new Cree Embassy.
