Controversy builds over possible CLIP changes
The Cree language is something our elders say needs to be used as much as possible to keep it going in future generations. The Cree School Board introduced the Cree Language of Instruction program to make that possible. The plan was to educate children from Pre-K to Grade 4 in Cree only. Now some people think the children should learn English as well. The issue came up at an education meeting in Amos this summer. Our contributor Johnny Cooper spoke with some delegates at that meeting to hear their opinions.
