Youth translates classic country into Cree
Starting in the 1950s when they would listen to American music on their shortwave radios in the bush, Aboriginal musicians have been translating country music hits into their own languages. Now many Cree youth are following the same path, combining the Cree language and culture with their musical interests. Jeremiah Mistacheesik is one youth who takes the Cree language seriously. He spoke with Melissa Natachequan about a song he decided to translate.
