Timeline of Automotive and Union Events in Windsor
In the 1920's, Windsor was home to 55 of Canada's 70 auto and auto-parts plants, including Ford, Hupp, Gramm, Dodge, Regal, Maxwell, Chalmers, Graham-Paige, Pierce Arrow, REO, Gotfredson, Studebaker, W. E. Seagrave, Dominion Motors, Menard Motor Truck, Tate Electric Motor Car and Canadian Commercial Motor Car.
So many employers meant workers who were dissatisfied at a job often moved to one of the other companies.
But that way of life would only last one generation. Drag the timeline below to follow the events, or use

About our series
Windsor is the town that labour built, but its influence isn't what it used to be.
Our special series, A Division of Labour, will look at the changing role of organized labour in Windsor over the years.
