Dr. Marcia Anderson DeCoteau
is the past-president of the Indigenous Physicians Association of Canada
. On our program First Nations: Second Class Care
, she revealed how she had to save her own father from a health-care system that saw him as "just another drunk Indian." But she also spoke at length to Brian about the challenges faced by aboriginal patients and the system that treats them. We spoke to her from Winnipeg, where she practices and does research on aboriginal health issues.
