Bad habits, new names

Listen

This week on White Coat, Black Art, we're talking bad habits  The things your MD tells you to kick - smoking, eating too much fatty food, sitting on the couch instead of exercising. The problem is, most of us don't listen and we don't change. But what if being out of shape was a bonafide medical condition? Brian talks to Dr. Michael Joyner  at the Mayo Clinic who says that might be the magic bullet we need to get us moving more and eating less. He suggests we call it  "deconditioning."  But Canadian researcher Alan Cassels worries it might invite drug companies to devise a new pill to treat that new disease. And finally, how about a little humour to help break your habits?  Brian talks to Terry Jones of Monty Python fame about his collaboration with the late Dr. Rob Buckman -- a series of videos aimed at helping you take responsibility for your health and habits.
