Social Medicine
You've heard of social media. What about social medicine?
That's when health professionals blog and tweet and text, not only to each other -- but to their patients. Some even go as far as making friends on Facebook, though there's much debate among health pros about where professional should stop at personal when it comes to social networking with patients.
We pull it all together - the pros and the cons. Give it a listen....and then send us viral by Facebooking and tweeting about it!

Newfoundland and Labrador puts its money down
Good news for MS patients and medical professionals who have been advocating for more research into the so-called Liberation procedure.
The government of Newfoundland and Labrador today announced plans to fund up to $320,000 (and more if required) for a Newfoundland and Labrador-based observational study of multiple sclerosis (MS) patients who have chosen to undergo the experimental liberation procedure proposed by Dr. P. Zamboni. It won't pay for people to have the treatment, but it will pay for a study of how it affects them.

Sneak Peek at WCBA's Next Show on Green Hospitals

On our next episode of White Coat, Black Art (Saturday September 18), we take a tour of one hospital that's leading the way in becoming green without increasing the risk of hospital-acquired infections.
For a sneak peek, listen to my House Doctor column today and later this week on afternoon shows on CBC Radio One.
Garbage and bio-waste aren't the only kinds of pollution hospitals have to deal with. So is noise. Listen to hospital design guru Roger Ulrich for his thoughts on the impact of noise pollution in hospital on your well-being.
