Put Down that Scalpel: an update

Last fall, White Coat, Black Art did a show on MD's who use their standing in the community to lobby for new laws and government action.  We featured an interview with Dr. Louis Francescutti, an emergency physician in Alberta who has lobbied to make laws that help prevent injuries.  His victories include mandatory seatbelt and bicycle helmet laws.

Listen to our show on activist MDs that aired September 25, 2010.

The Health Council of Canada is an organization that fosters accountability and transparency in health care by assessing progress in improving the quality, effectiveness and sustainability of the system.  Last week, I was asked to contribute a blog to their web site on the use of health indicators in monitoring the effectiveness of bicycle safety helmet legislation.
