If you're new to White Coat, Black Art, I do hope you've enjoyed listening to some of our favorite episodes. That said, I can't tell you how many loyal fans have been asking when we're going to air with new episodes.
Wait, no longer!
This Saturday, September 12, we begin our fourth season of White Coat, Black Art. Our first show takes a critical look at sleep deprivation among residents -- young MDs who are apprenticing at Canada's teaching hospitals. Despite new and improved regulations intended to cut back resident hours per week and consecutive hours on call, we met residents who are forced to stay on duty for 30 or even more hours at a stretch.
Are we putting patients at risk? As one resident put it, you'd have to be a fool to think sleep deprivation doesn't affect patient care.
Join us this Saturday, September 12 at 10 am (1030 in Newfoundland). As always, you can download the show as a podcast from iTunes or through our website - http://www.cbc.ca/whitecoat. New shows are available as of the Friday midnight immediately prior to the show.
