CBC Television Weekend Mornings
Host of Weekend Mornings

Stan Carew

Stan Carew has been the host of Weekend Mornings since 1997. He hopes it's the final stop on a radio road that started in 1968 at CHNS in Halifax. The journey has included CKBW in Bridegwater, CKEC New Glasgow, CKWW Windsor, Ontario, CFDR Dartmouth, C-100 and Q-104 Halifax.

Stan joined CBC Saint John NB in 1979, then spent seven years as a CBC Radio network announcer in Toronto where he worked on local shows Metro Morning, Radio Noon and the Afternoon Show. He was also the host of the network shows The Entertainers and Prime Time and a late Sunday night show called Where Ears Meet.

Stan is also an actor and musician. He's appeared in movies that featured Harrison Ford, Sissy Spacek, James Caan and Cybill Shepherd. His television credits include Trudeau, Made in Canada, and Trailer Park Boys. He is also the off-camera voice of CBC's This Hour Has 22 Minutes.

As a musician, Stan has been a member of the long-running Halifax collective the Wolverines for 30 years. He's also played in bluegrass bands, and with some of his CBC colleagues in the BBQ Kings. He's currently performing with his band the Magpies at concert venues around the Maritimes and is planning to record and release an album later this year.
