WAM Dec1-2 Steve Sharpe
There is a movement afoot to put the steeple back on an historic church built in 1894. And some well-known works are lending a hand to the cause. It was a shock one morning in March 2010 when residents awoke to find the steeple from St. Philip's Anglican Church torn from the building and lying on the ground. The church is no longer used as a place of worship. A group in the town has been working to reattach the steeple to the idled heritage structure. Today the Church by the Sea Heritage Group is launching a calendar today to raise funds to help their cause. It is a souvenir collection of paintings of the iconic church. Steve Sharpe is with the Church by the Sea Heritage Group. He stopped by our studio to speak with me.
