Nov 3-4 Weekend Arts Magazine

Mack Furlong sits in for Chris O’Neill-Yates this weekend. He’ll hear all about: a new Jack tale from Andy Jones to be published by Running the Goat Press, illustrated by Darka Erdelji - Jack and Mary in the Land of Thieves; the Dictionary of Newfoundland English celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. The English Language Research Centre at Memorial joins the party with a symposium open to the public next weekend; Ottawa Valley step-dancing … and how “dancing from the heart” is something we can all relate to. Dr. Sherry Johnson delivers the message in a public lecture; 8, a staged reading of Dustin Lance Black’s play about California’s Proposition 8, which took away the freedom of gay and lesbian Californians to marry; and Paul Lamb will be on Liner Notes with his new cd, Get to What’s Real.

The Weekend Arts Magazine with Mack Furlong airs from 6 to 9:30 island time - 5:30 to 9:00 in parts of Labrador - on Saturday and Sunday mornings on CBC Radio 1.
