November 12-13 on the Weekend Arts Magazine
Jacob Reid, aka Trick Mode, is a grade 12 student at O’Donel High, but he won’t be doing any homework this weekend - he’s the only Newfoundlander and the only high school student competing at the Beatbox Canada Championships in Toronto - hear him roll out his stuff! Clarinettist Sean Rice is coming home for a visit, and he’s bringing his band with him - the National Arts Centre Orchestra. Jim Payne and Fergus O’Byrne are going on the road … or the water … the South Coast, in any event, for a school tour and some community concerts. We’ll check in with the Harmon Project on the West Coast and with piano tuners in Labrador. Graham Wells is the Liner Notes guest.
The Weekend Arts Magazine with Mack Furlong airs from 6 to 9:30 island time - 5:30 to 9:00 in parts of Labrador - on Saturday and Sunday mornings on CBC Radio 1.
