March 26-27 Winterset Russell Wangersky

The BMO Winterset Award was announced this week at Govt House. Russell Wangersky was the winner of the $10,000 prize.

He is known to many for his Telegram editorials and his other two previous books Burning Down the House (about his life as a volunteer firefighter) and the short story collection The Hour of Bad Decisions.

He’s won the B.C. National Non-Fiction Book Award, the Edna Staebler Award and the Rogers Cable Non-fiction Prize (NL) for Burning Down the House. The Hour of Bad Decisions was longlisted for the Giller and named one of the top 100 books of 2006 by the Globe and Mail.

And this week Russelll has a new award …the 2010 Winterset prize. For his debut novel The Glass Harmonica.
