Nice But Gusty Start to the Week, Showers Ahead...March 17th

Happy St Patrick's Day! Who was the real deal

  • Strong winds and clearing skies have been the main story this morning across the south coast with gusts over 75 km/h over the past 6 hours at YVR
  • Winds will begin to ease this afternoon but skies should remain mostly cloudy
  • Tomorrow, a weak warm front will push in from the Pacific bringing increasing clouds and afternoon showers to Vancouver followed by the cold front later in the day for continued rain through to Wednesday morning
  • A drier northwesterly flow will bring the sun back in for Thursday & Friday along with scattered showers
  • Seasonal temps all week with afternoon highs 9-10 degrees
  • At this point hard to say what's on the table for the weekend - even chance of a drier weekend, but also a shot at another rainy Saturday
  • Avalanche danger still considerable to high today after an active avalanche weekend

Messy Weather on the Way to Southern Ontario Tomorrow
  • A new system will track into Ontario Tuesday night into Wednesday, bringing a combination of snow, rain and a messy mix
  • There is also the potential for a wide swath of freezing rain Wednesday am that may impact the morning commute into the GTA
  • A special weather statement is already in place across southern Ontario
