One More Sunny Day..Winter like Storm for the Weekend...Sept 26th

  • Sunshine and temps in the high teens will stick around for one more day today before the first of a series of storm system move into the south coast
  • Clouds will begin to roll in ahead of the first system starting this evening but the rain should hold off until early tomorrow morning
  • Rain may become heavy at times through tomorrow am with gusty winds as the cold front slides across the lower mainland
  • Rain will taper tomorrow afternoon for a bit of a break by Friday evening
  • The next, and much more powerful storm system will arrive for Saturday morning with heavy rain and strong winds. Winds may remain just below warning criteria for Vancouver but some coastal sections may see wind warnings
  • Snow levels will be dropping. At this point it looks like levels may get down to 1500 m which will mean snow for the Okanagan Connector tomorrow...and throughout the weekend. Special weather statement in place
  • Flooding -may- also be a concern for the Friday - Sunday event period for some regions. Upwards of 100 mm for coastal sections, and 50 mm for Vancouver may fall by Sunday. A lot of discrepancy in rainfall totals but it will definitely be a wet weekend to say the least!
  • Wet, cool and unsettled weather prevails through at least early next week as lows continue to track onto the coast
