Our upper level low is gradually drifting southward and out of our region today. But remnant moisture from the last couple of days still lingers over the lower mainland. So light showers and lower cloud will linger for the next few hours.

A gradual clearing though will begin late this afternoon into the evening, lingering last through the mountains. By Friday afternoon an offshore ridge of high pressure builds in place bringing northwesterly winds and a good clear out for blue skies. Patchy fog may still stick around for the early morning.

Some breaks already this morning in the cloud out in Victoria. Moisture hangs on a little longer though for the lower mainland.

- High pressure will continue it's reign for Saturday with even clearer skies to the southern half of the province.
- By Sunday, things start to break down again and the generally flow will return to west to east, bringing Pacific systems in as early as Sunday evening with an approaching warm front

Canadian glaciers face 'big losses'
- A new study suggests the region's ice fields could lose perhaps as much as a fifth of their volume.
- Such a melt would add 3.5 cm to the height of the world's oceans. Only the ice of Greenland and Antarctica is expected to contribute more.
