Days of Rain Ahead...But it Could be Worse, We Could be on Saturn...Nov 28th

It's a one-two punch for the west coast today; rain will start for the lower mainland later this afternoon with the first low pressure system, followed by strong overnight winds and heavier rain for Thursday with a second low pressure system following suit

The bottom panel is a tool I often look at for rainfall totals. It's a graphical representation of the precip forecast for Vancouver based on one US model that I think is handling this rain pretty well (NAM). You can see the bar graph showing pretty continuous rain for the next 3 days. (0z=4pm, 12z=4am)

- A special weather statement has been issued for Vancouver Island inc Victoria for strong winds tonight; 50-70 km/h before easing late Thursday morning as the front passes. Winds will also be gusty for metro Van...50-60 km/h gusts tonight.
- Rainfall totals at first look will be close to 10-20 mm tonight..with another 10-30 mm tomorrow. And this means snow for local mountains; Whistler could be looking at 30-50 cm!
- Light rain has already started for Princeton and will likely make it's way over to Vancouver in the next 3 hours
- A third low pressure system will race across the region for Friday bringing continued wet & windy conditions...more for the weekend
- Long range looks like there may be a Monday break...but then a possible Pineapple Express set-up for next week.
 - The next 5 day precip totals for Vancouver at this point look like they could be 60-100 mm..
- Many of these storms are lining up off the US west coast and tracking north into BC... wind & flooding with these same storms is a concern stateside to give you an idea of the rain & wind potential
