Ian Black

Email | @BlacksWeather

Ian is the only weather forecaster in Ottawa certified by the Canadian Metrological and Oceanographic Society (in fact, he was the first broadcaster ever certified). He's a hockey dad, and before he became Ottawa's go-to guy for accurate forecasts, he was a substitute teacher in just about every high school in town. A self-described weather geek, he is excited about how technology has caught up to the way he had envisioned weather forecasting 20 years ago.

Teri was born in Montreal, grew up in L'Orignal and moved to Ottawa to attend the University of Ottawa, where she got a B.A. and M.A. She worked in flight training at the Ottawa Airport for 12 years, learning to decipher weather reports and read the winds. She also spent a year on a tall ship, where accurate weather forecasting became a priority. New baby Uly is keeping her busy, but she still finds time to teach at Algonquin College, direct plays and help run The Gladstone Theatre in Ottawa. She has been the on-air back-up to climatologist Ian Black for almost a decade.
