CBC celebrates Jamaica's 50th anniversary

CBC Toronto is YOUR destination for continuing coverage of the Jamaica 50 celebrations in Toronto and the GTA. Our city is hosting the biggest and best events to mark Jamaica's 50th anniversary of independence on August 6 - and we want you join the festivities!

Programming highlights:

*Television: Tune-in to your favourite local programs including CBC News Toronto at 5 pm for stories about Jamaicans in Toronto.

*Watch the CBC Television debut of Two Worlds, One Love, a new documentary showcasing the inspirational stories of nearly a dozen successful Jamaican-Canadians who are making a difference in Toronto, while maintaining strong ties with Jamaica. August 6, 5:00 - 6:00 pm on CBC Television.

*On August 11, watch CBC News Toronto for highlights from the star-studded Jamaica Land We Love Gala hosted by Anne-Marie Mediwake and Dwight Drummond.

*Radio: Listen to a special broadcast about Jamaica's 50th anniversary hosted by Marcia Young on August 6, 6:00 - 8:30 am on CBC Radio One 99.1 FM. An hour-long national broadcast airs at 8 pm the same day.

*On August 11, listen to a special Jamaica 50 themed edition of Big City, Small World at 5 pm on CBC Radio One 99.1 FM.
