CBC Toronto is a proud media sponsor of Jamaica 50 celebrations.
This year, Jamaica celebrates 50 years of independence.
In honour of the significant contributions that Jamaican-Canadians have made to Toronto, and this country, CBC commissioned producer Bobby Brown Singh to create a documentary: Two Worlds, One Love. This special presentation made its CBC Television debut on August 6th; the actual anniversary date of Jamaica's independence.
Two Worlds, One Love, tells nearly a dozen inspiring stories of Torontonians of Jamaican descent who are making a difference here while maintaining strong ties with Jamaica. The documentary features interviews with elite athletes to filmmakers, entertainers to restauranteurs, and politicians to billionaire philanthropists.
Narrated by CBC Radio's Garvia Bailey, the documentary includes Michie Mee, G. Raymond Chang, Kardinal Offishall, Michael Lee Chin, Shelley-Ann Brown, Ken and P.K. Subban, d'bi young, Mary-Ann Chambers, Dr. Herbert Ho Ping Kong, Sudz Sutherland, and Ed and Lily Pottinger from The Real Jerk Restaurant.
