A new media-monitoring analysis suggests the Rob Ford saga received more intensive media coverage in the United States than any other Canadian news story since the turn of the century.

Coverage of Ford accounted for 79.3% of all foreign stories in the U.S. and 20.7% in other countries, in a total of 18,145 stories.

In the U.S., there were 6,327 Ford stories from Nov. 4-10, 5,428 from Nov. 11-17, 1,960 from Nov. 18-24, and 670 from Nov. 25-Dec. 1.

Stories about Ford outnumbered stories on the train disaster in Lac-Megantic, Que. by a factor of 1.4.

Stories about Ford outnumbered stories on the space trip of Cirque duSoleil founder Guy Laliberte by a factor of 1.9.

Stories about Ford outnumbered stories on the Robert Pickton trial by a factor of 2.1.

Stories about Ford outnumbered stories on most recent space trip of astronaut Chris Hadfield by a factor of 2.1.
