Impact of Family Violence Conference 2014

Tune-in to Metro Morning on CBC Radio 99.1 FM for stories from the 4th annual Impact of Family Violence Conference: A South Asian Perspective, which takes place on May 14 & 15 at University of Ontario Institute of Technology/Durham College.

Presented by Social Services Network, the conference connects the diverse South Asian population with key sectors and mainstream service providers involved in violence prevention and response. Topics include forced marriage, femicide, elder abuse, sexual diversity, sexual violence and disabilities.

The conference is part of a five-year initiative developed to understand the specific nature, systems, complex cultural and family dynamics that pose barriers and challenges around abuse when it occurs in South Asian families.
